Rochester resident Phil LeFavor let us know on Sunday that he had a close encounter with a bear the night before.

"Heard a bang in my yard last night and thought someone was breaking into my shed," said LeFavor. "Turned on the spotlight and the bear had pulled down my birdfeeder. He took off after I shined the flashlight at him."

LeFavor sighted the bear at 9 Benson Road in Rochester. This sighting follows on the heels of a sighting at 11 Benson Road on Labor Day weekend.

After that, the Sippican Week team asked residents to let us know if they sighted a bear as well. The response has been great!

Helen Fredericks saw a bear today in Rochester around 6:00 p.m.

Shannon in Acushnet saw a bear over on Main Street late afternoon on September 12.
