Relay for Life coming to ORR

Oct 13, 2011

Want to join the fight against cancer?

The American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" for Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester will be happening June 8-9 at Old Rochester Regional High School.

But the American Cancer Society needs your help. The Relay For Life of the three towns will begin the planning stages of this event on November 15,  at Old Rochester Regional High School Library.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relay For Life is an overnight event that lasts up to 24 hours.

Last year a record of $84,000 was raised.

Everyone in the community is encouraged to take part in fighting the battle against cancer and hear how they can make a difference in what has become the largest single non-profit organization in the world.
