ROCHESTER — Changing the name of a road is an unconventional anniversary gift. But for Thomas Cullen and his wife, it’s been a long time coming. 

Selectmen approved the changing of Duhamel Drive to Patty’s way at a Dec. 21 meeting. 

“It’s just a personal reason,” said Cullen, who addressed the board on the name change. “My wife of 16 years and I have been driving down this road in my ex-wife’s maiden name.” 

Cullen said that he and his wife decided to try to change the name after their 15th wedding anniversary. 

“We said ‘I think it’s time to change the name to something we want,’” Cullen said. 

The board wished Cullen and his wife a happy anniversary.
