Rochester election results: new and old blood for constable

Apr 11, 2019

ROCHESTER — Incumbent Constable David Hughes will keep his seat, and be joined in his duties by Marc Slabodnick after the Rochester election on April 10.

Just under 300 voters turned out for the Annual Town Election, with 195 voting for Hughes, 130 voting for Slabodnick and 130 voting for Carolyn Pruchnik.

Town Clerk Naida Parker said the only other race that garnered a serious number of write-ins was for Board of Selectmen, where Bradford Morse was up for re-election. Mike Murphy had 33 write-in votes, but at 230 votes, Morse easily won.

Hughes also won for Park Commissioner. Kimberly Burt was elected as a Library Trustee after she was appointed to take Winston Sharples’ spot when he resigned.  Dennis Desrosiers will also take a new spot as a Library Trustee.

The other positions are re-elections. Diana Knapp was re-elected for Board of Assessors, Glen Lawrence will serve another term on the Board of Health, Richard Charon will stay on the Water Commission. Jeffrey Eldridge will stay on as Highway Surveyor, Lori Souza will stay on the Cemetery Commission, and Sharon Hartley will stay on the Rochester School Committee.
