The Rochester Land Trust will host a walk at the Delano Memorial Forest on Sunday, May 18 at 1 p.m. Park and enter the property at the entrance on Mary’s Pond Road just north of the intersection with Walnut Plain Road. The walk will last about two hours and takes place rain or shine. It is open to all ages and would be suitable for young children. Dress for an easy walk over relatively flat terrain, but remember ticks and herring flies are out. Bug spray is recommended.

This particular property features both pinewoods and riverside habitats so a variety of bird species should be seen (and heard). Also, many of the spring ephemerals are in bloom. Be on the lookout for lady slippers and mayflowers, the state flower.
