Rochester Library Director announces retirement

Nov 16, 2021

ROCHESTER — After 15 years of serving as the Director Joseph H. Plumb Memorial Library, Gail Roberts plans to retire on June 30, 2022.

Roberts sent the news to the Select Board in a letter, and also appeared at their Nov. 15 meeting to answer any questions from the board.

Board members thanked Roberts for her service.

Roberts served as the President of the Board of Directors for the SAILS library network for a year, taking over the position while libraries were still figuring out how to reopen after pandemic closures.

In Rochester, Roberts started planning for a major library renovation project that would double the space downstairs, adding an activities area, meeting rooms and a handicap accessible elevator and bathrooms.
