Rochester may look into public safety compound

Aug 4, 2020

ROCHESTER — Selectmen tentatively set fall Town Meeting for Nov. 16 and discussed presenting voters with a request to begin planning for a new public safety complex or fire station.

Town Administrator Suzanne Szyndlar said at an Aug. 3 meeting one of the items on the warrant would appropriate funds for a study on a public safety complex or a new fire station.

Fire Chief Scott Weigel appeared before Selectmen in February 2020 to raise the possibility of changes to the fire station. At the time, Selectmen asked him to set up a committee to look into the issue. Now, it seems they will do the work using a feasibility study

Selectmen will ask the Planning Board if it has any matters for a fall Town Meeting.
