Rochester Memorial School cancels after-school programs
Until further notice, the Rochester Memorial School has cancelled all of its fall after-school programs.
Last week, Principal Dr. Moira Rodgers informed the Rochester School Committee of the Parent Teacher Organization's decision to cancel the programs.
The programs are run by the school's PTO and rely on fees from participating students to fund the activities.
Superintendent of the Old Rochester Regional School District Doug White said the reason behind the cancellation is due to a lack of staff members to assist with the programs.
"We just don't have the personnel to run those activities," White said.
It is still unconfirmed how many programs the school had, or how many kids participated in the programs.
White said that the cancellation is not related to the budget and hopes to have all of the programs available to the students soon.
"We're looking to put those programs back in place as soon as we can," he said.
