The Rochester Police Department has recovered a safe taken from a home on the 200 block of Cushman Road but are still conducting an investigation.

The department released a statement on Monday saying the homeowner  discovered the safe missing on the evening of Thursday, July 18. Officers at the scene did not find any signs of forced entry to the home.

Rochester Police put out a "be on the lookout" request to area police departments and were contacted later that night by Acushnet Police who located the stolen safe in the area of Wing Road.

The safe is being processed for fingerprints by the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department.

Rochester Police have a possible suspect in the theft, and the investigation by Officer Shaun Peterson and Sgt. William Chamberlain is ongoing.
