Oct 30, 2013

Police prevented a break-in at a Rochester home on Tuesday morning and arrested two men who may be responsible for a series of local burglaries.

Detectives from six different towns, including Mattapoisett, arrested Nathanial Gibbs, 26, of Sandwich, and 27-year-old Robert Peterson, of Kingston, while they attempted to break-in to a home on New Bedford Road.

According to police, Duxbury Detective Dennis McKenney uncovered information that led him to believe the two were responsible for burglaries in his town.

Based on other information, detectives from area towns suspected that Gibbs and Kingston committed similar crimes in their communities. Investigators then put the men under surveillance. Gibbs and Kingston were being watched on Tuesday morning before being placed into custody by Rochester police.

Both are held on cash bail and were arraigned on Wednesday morning in Wareham District Court on burglary and other charges.
