Rochester has surpassed 50 ongoing cases of covid, according to state data. 

Covid data released weekly by the state show Rochester’s case count increasing from 37 to 56, Marion’s count increasing from 39 to 43, and Mattapoisett’s cases increasing from 33 to 49. 

All three towns remained in the state’s red designation in its color-coded risk measurement system. This is the second consecutive week each of the three towns has met the red designation. Marion has been red for six weeks straight. 

Two new deaths were reported at Sippican Healthcare in state data, bringing the death total at the long-term care facility to 17. The center has two active cases as of Dec. 17, signaling that most of the town’s cases are now coming from outside of the center.
