Rochester Select Board sign Town Meeting warrant

Oct 20, 2020

ROCHESTER — The Board of Selectmen signed the warrant for the Nov. 16 Special Town Meeting with the Finance and Capital Planning committees at an Oct. 19 meeting that includes capital purchases of equipment for different departments.

Voters will decide whether the town should allocate $90,000 for a used truck, $69,000 for a truck and plow for the Highway Department, and $51,000 for a truck and plow for the Facilities Department, to replace the currently in-use van.

The warrant also included entrance into a pilot agreement with 139 Sarah Sherman Road to establish a steady income for the town, as well as a yearly tax amount for the property.

Voters will be asked to decide on the allocation of $100,000 for the Public Safety Capital Fund and allocation of $200,000 for the Capital Improvements Fund.

Also included in the warrant was a $15,000 allocation to have a consultant codify the town’s bylaws.

“The docs that we have on hand included most of the bylaws, but not all the bylaws,” Town Clerk Paul Dawson said.

He said that a typical codification takes around two years, but could take longer.

“Depending on budget, at best [it] could be a couple of years,” Dawson said.

The board voted unanimously to sign the warrant.

Town Meeting will be held on Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. at Rochester Memorial School.
