Rochester Senior Center early April notes

ROCHESTER — Easter and the annual town election will come to Rochester in early April, bringing some changes to the usual Senior Center schedule. 

Join the Rochester Senior Center for Breakfast with the Easter Bunny on Sunday, April 7 from 8 to 11 a.m.  Breakfast will be made to order from a menu. Menu items include eggs any style, French toast, pancakes and sausages. Photos with the bunny are available for $5. 

Rochester’s April 10 election will impact several events on April 9 and 10. Scrabble and Line Dancing are canceled, and the Fitness Room will be unavailable on Tuesday, April 9th due to election setup. The Fitness Room, Ballroom Dancing, Bingo, and Zumba will also be cancelled on April 10.

The Senior Center will host a trip to the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster on April 12. The museum has exhibits on birds, bees, the marshlands and many other natural things! There is an osprey camera, which is focused on an osprey nest in the marsh, allowing visitors a close up view from a comfy arm chair in the museum.

The museum visit will be followed by lunch at The Marshside Restaurant known for its marsh view. After lunch the group will stop at The Christmas Tree Shop in Sandwich. The fee for this trip is $10. The bus leaves Rochester at 9 a.m. and will return around 4 p.m. Call the senior center to reserve a spot. 

The Rochester Senior Center is currently accepting applications for new board members. Board members must be Rochester residents, Rochester Senior Center participants and interested in advocating for and the serving the needs of Rochester’s older adult residents. Please send a letter of interest to 67 Dexter Lane, Rochester, MA 02770, attention of the Board of Directors. The time commitment is a  few hours each month.

The Senior Center will be closed on Monday, April 15 for Patriot’s Day and will close at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 19 for Good Friday.
