Rochester sisters named 'youth heroes of the year'
ROCHESTER — Rochester sisters Arissa and Deianeira Underhill were honored as heroes on Friday, March 30 at a charity ball hosted by M.O., L.I.F.E., a Fairhaven-based non-profit that assists people with disabilities.
The group named the Underhill girls “Youth Heroes of the Year” for their work with food pantries, animal shelters and clothing drives.
Both girls have Erb’s palsy, which causes paralysis of the arm due to injured nerves.
Arissa, a tenth grade student at Old Rochester Regional High School, also has cerebral palsy and Bell’s palsy, which cause weakness in the face muscles.
Deianeira is an eighth grade student at Old Rochester Regional Junior High School.
At the ball in Westport the girls were given two separate Senate Citations, as well as Citations from the House of Representatives, the Governor, the Bristol Sheriff’s office and the Town of Fairhaven. They also received an engraved plaque from M.O. L.I.F.E., Inc. Foundation.
