Rochester student seeks donations for humanitarian trip
Rochester resident and Fitchburg State University sophomore Megan Pierce is seeking donations to help fund an alternative spring break trip to build homes for people in need in Lucedale, Miss.
This will be Fitchburg State’s 13th Alternative Spring Break trip and will be done in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity.
Pierce will spend the week of March 7 with fellow students in Lucedale, an area still rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina.
In order to attend, students must raise $500 by the second week of December. Pierce is asking that people or businesses who are interested in helping donate any amount. A check can be made out to Fitchburg State Foundation with “Pierce ASB” in the memo line. All checks can be sent to: Fitchburg State University Foundation, Inc, Attention: ASB Trip, 160 Pearl St, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
Any individual or business with a donation $100 or more will be listed on the back of the students’ work shirts worn at fundraisers and on the build itself.
