Rochester town administrator resigns

Apr 14, 2016

Town Administrator Mike McCue called serving Rochester an “honor and a privilege” but announced his resignation at a special meeting of the Selectmen on Thursday morning. McCue will take on the same position in Hanson. His leave date is May 6.

“You never know when these things are just going to come up,” said McCue, who was runner up to that same position in 2003. “It just seemed to work out for the best for my family.”

McCue, who lives in Mansfield with his family, said the position is a few minutes from his parents home, which is part of the reason for the move.

He said the position also offers about a $19,000 increase in pay.

This is not the first time McCue has sought employment elsewhere since taking on the job in Rochester in June 2014.

In December, McCue was a finalist for the same position in Fairhaven, but was not chosen.

Before he goes, Selectmen Chair Naida Parker said, “Hopefully you’ll be able to give us some help in getting some things organized.”

McCue responded that he had already begun getting things in order for his departure.
