Rochester Town Meeting set for May 21
It’s time to wrap up old business in Rochester.
Now that the Town Meeting date has been set for May 21, Town Administrator Richard LaCamera advises the town’s boards and committees to tie up their loose ends.
During the February 6 meeting with the Board of Selectmen, LaCamera said that any articles that the town’s boards or committees plan to bring forward in Town Meeting be submitted to the Town Clerk, Naida Parker, beginning in mid-March.
“It would be my suggestion that warrant articles only be accepted until April 6 and all zoning articles no later than March 15,” LaCamera said.
LaCamera said this would give the town’s officials and the local community time to prepare for Town Meeting, as well as to keep the meeting schedule organized.
LaCamera said he anticipates more work will need to be done with 2013 budgets before the final proposals are presented for the May Town Meeting vote.
“I imagine some clean-ups of the budget items,” LaCamera said.
All of the 2013 budget proposals have been submitted to his office except for the Old Rochester Regional school district budget, LaCamera said.
“I’m kind of disappointed because that’s a key budget to us and if it has a change, it’s going to have a significant impact on Rochester Memorial School,” he said.
LaCamera said he is expecting a draft of the Old Rochester Regional budget soon, adding that he will have a preliminary budget book prepared for the Selectmen by the end of the month.

A position on the Park Commission will be open for the town’s April election. Parker said anyone interested in the position should submit his or her nomination papers to the Town Clerk’s office by February 22.
