Rochester town planner takes Raynham job
The Town of Raynham has hired Rochester and Wareham Town Planner John Charbonneau to be its next Director of Planning and Development.
Wareham and Rochester hired Charbonneau in 2010 and divided his time as a part-time planner for the towns. He served three days a week in Wareham and two day each week in Rochester. He starts the new position Sept. 26, but is no longer employed in Rochester.
Planning Board Chair Arnie Johnson mentioned Charbonneau’s departure at the board’s Tuesday meeting. Talking with neighboring town officials on hiring another joint planner may be a possibility, he said, adding there is some uncertainty.
“We don’t know if the town will advertise for someone right away, or appoint an interim [town planner], or go solo for a minute,” he said.
