Rochester Womans Club offers new scholarship

Mar 4, 2019
The Rochester Women's Club is adding a scholarship for nursing students. This scholarship is funded in part by the late George Church.  He donated a substantial amount of money to start the "Snookie Church" Memorial Scholarship for Nurses in honor of his wife Katherine Church.  She was well know for her service as an Army nurse and more known for her dedication to the town of Acushnet as a school and visiting nurse.  Katherine, known as "Snookie" to most, was also a president of the Rochester Women's Club for many years.

The Snookie Church Memorial Scholarship for Nurses and the Raymond T.Hartley Scholarship applications will be available at the guidance office of Old Rochester Regional High School,
Old Colony Vocational High School, Bristol County Agricultural School and Bishop Stang High School.

There will be one "Snookie" scholarship and two Raymond T. Hartley Scholarships awarded.

The Women's Club Scholarships are $1,000.  The money for these scholarships are dispersed to the recipients after the club receives transcripts from their first semester.

Graduating Rochester residents who attend a school not listed above should contact the Rochester Woman’s Club for an application.  Contact Marsha at 508 322 0998.
