Rules for burning in Marion

The Marion Fire Department would like to remind residents of rules that apply to the upcoming open air burning season. The open burning season extends from January 15th to May 1st. Burning is allowed between 9 A.M. and 4 P.M., weather permitting and must be started by noon and completely extinguished by 4 P.M.

Please call Marion Fire at 508-748-3508, no earlier than 8:30 A.M. on the day you wish to burn.  You will reach a recording where you will be advised as to whether burning is permitted for the day and will be asked to leave your permit number, name, address and phone number. If you desire to obtain a burning permit you must come to the fire station located at 50 Spring Street after January 9th, 2017.

Materials that are allowed to be burned include brush, cane driftwood, from other than commercial or industrial land clearing. Leaves, grass, refuse, construction debris, stumps, commercial/industrial land clearing are NOT PERMITTED.

IMPORTANT REMINDER:

All fires must be 75 feet from dwellings or structures.

All fires must be attended until completely extinguished.
