"Save Hathaway Pond" bumper stickers have spread like wildfire throughout Rochester as residents voice their opposition to the Hathaway Pond dam's removal.

The Coalition for Buzzards Bay purchased the land the dam is a part of in May and intends to remove the dam, which has several structural deficiencies and is deemed unsafe by the Office of Dam Safety, in order to restore the Sippican River to its natural state. The plan has riled local residents who use the pond for fishing and recreation and cranberry growers who rely on the pond as a reservoir.
