School district appoints new treasurer

MATTAPOISETT — The Old Rochester Regional School District has appointed a new treasurer in Michael Perrone.

"Michael has extensive experience in financial management and operations within schools, having spent his entire career in the educational sector," Superintendent Micheal Nelson said. "His skillset will be a valuable addition to ORR and we look forward to welcoming him to our team."

Perrone has worked as the Associate Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer at the Polk County Public Schools in Florida since 2013. There, he was responsible for the daily implementation of financial functions and for the planning, development and implementation of all services related to the school system's Financial Services Division. He also oversaw all financial staff.

Prior, he was the chief financial officer at the DeKalb County Public Schools in Georgia from 2012-13 and the chief financial officer at the Duval County Public Schools in Florida from 2009-12. He oversaw all financial matters for the respective districts in both positions.

He also served for several years as the Duval County Public Schools' Executive Director of Finance and held various finance and business management positions with the Barnstable Public Schools, Silver Lake Regional School District in Kingston and the Thompson Public Schools in Thompson, CT.

Perrone holds a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in School Business Administration from the University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT and a degree in economics from Boston College.
