Scouts show their drive at drive-through cookie sale

Feb 6, 2022

MARION — Girl Scout Troop 67047 braved the frigid temperatures to hone their entrepreneurial skills Sunday, Feb. 6 during a drive-through cookie sale at 345 Front St.

This is the second year the troop has held a drive-through sale. Starting because of Covid-19, the drive-through concept allows patrons to stay in the car.

Kali B of Wareham explains that "when you sell cookies you learn to be a leader and how to use money." Kaylin O stated that her favorite part of being a Girl Scout is helping others. Among her favorite community service projects were "donating food [to Damiens Pantry] and making blankets for animals that don’t have a home."

The sale of Girl Scout cookies help girls have opportunities to partake in activities such as fire building, archery, boating and camping. Community service projects for the upcoming year include volunteering at Gifts to Give and Earth Day cleanups.

Charlotte said that her favorite activity was going to Equestrian Elements in Rochester to learn about horses, while Olivia would love to go to an aquarium and to New York with her Girl Scout sisters this year.

The girls will hold two more drive-through booths before the cookie season wraps up in March. They will be held on Feb. 20 and March 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 345 Front St. in Marion.

Cookies are $5 a box and can be purchased using cash, credit or venmo.
