Selectmen consider food trucks for Ned's Point

Food trucks could be coming to Ned’s Point.

Mattapoisett Selectmen mulled over the possibility of hosting an array of food trucks at the park at Ned’s Point during the fall.

“This gives an opportunity for everyone to get together,” Assistant to the Town Administrator Mel Pacheco said.

The idea is that a couple times a month food trucks could park at Ned’s Point from about 4 p.m. until dusk. Selectman Jordan Collyer said it would be a good way to do something new with a town park.

“I think Ned’s Point would be a good trial location because of the traffic. It’s a draw, and there’s parking,” he said. “At the end of the day it’d be nice to offer something else in one of our parks, and we don’t do much down there as a town per se.”

Selectman Tyler Macallister agreed, and said that the park already draws a big crowd.

“There’s always lots of people around there” he said. Mentioning that after a day spent fishing over the weekend, he came back to Ned’s Point to see “about 30 cars” parked there, as people were enjoying the view and waiting for the sunset. “I think it’s a great idea.”

The other selectmen agreed, and decided to come up with some dates and logistical details to vote on next time.
