Selectmen looking for committee to revamp buildings
The Town Hall is old, the Fire Station is cramped, and the Council on Aging could use an update. While Mattapoisett officials are aware of these issues, finding solutions may require a fresh set of eyes.
On Tuesday, Town Administrator Mike Gagne suggested forming a committee of local experts who could research and suggest new ideas for the town, including the best use of the town's existing buildings.
“We need to find a way to right-size a project for the town, not only in scope but overall costs and time,” said Selectmen Chair Jordan Collyer.
Collyer said, “There are things we don’t even think to take advantage of.” A committee of engineers, architects, and construction professionals could provide solutions outside of the Selectmen's scope.
Gagne said he had a few people in mind for the committee, but will also take suggestions.
