MATTAPOISETT — A day after closing because of dangerous contaminant levels in the water, the town has reopened Shining Tides Beach on July 9 after a second test showed lower contaminant levels. 

The town wrote in a notification that “that the levels of contaminations have significantly dropped to a level deemed safe for swimmers now. The Shining Tides Beach is no longer closed to swimming.”
