Signs of support for the Stroms pop up around Marion

MARION — While the town has rallied around injured Tabor Academy and Holy Cross rower Hannah Strom and her family with messages and donations, one sign of support is simpler, but no less profound.

Red and purple hearts have been popping up on houses, businesses, and yes, even the Town House and Sippican School; a visual reminder for the Strom family of the love and support that the town feels for their daughter as she recovers from a van crash that killed one of her teammates and severely injured her, coaches and other rowers.

Strom was training in Vero Beach, Florida on Jan. 15 when the van she was traveling in collided with a pickup truck. Her family flew down to be with her when they got the news, but Strom was transferred to Mass General Hospital on Monday, Feb. 20.

Strom’s parents, Gail and Tom Strom, own Kool Kone in Wareham.

Here are some of the many hearts around Marion.
