Jul 18, 2011
A single car crash on New Bedford Road in the morning on July 17 in Rochester caused several power-lines to be downed.
According to police, a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer driven by 19-year-old Irwin Cruz of Church Street New Bedford had driven off the right side of the roadway and crashed into a utility pole. The force of the impact snapped the pole in half and brought power, cable, and telephone lines across the roadway.
Cruz was brought to Tobey Hospital, in Wareham, and was treated for undisclosed injuries. Police say the crash remains under investigation and are awaiting a statement from Cruz.
New Bedford Road was reopened at 5 p.m.
