Sippican School to use tent for outdoor learning

Mar 17, 2021

MARION — Sippican School has purchased a 30 foot by 60 foot tent to be used as additional outdoor learning space when students return to full-time classes, according to Town Administrator Jay McGrail.

The tent, purchased through state funds received directly by the school, will be used for mask breaks and socially-distanced in-person instruction. It will also serve as a covered space for recess during “sub-par weather,” McGrail said.

Pending permit approval by the Town of Marion and Building Commissioner Scott Shippey, the tent will be set up in an area set aside near the playground.

“They’re looking forward to having it,” McGrail said.
