Slushy, slow commute due to storm
Round two of winter weather will make Monday’s morning and evening commute a slippery one.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning in effect now until later tonight when the storm tapers off between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Ahead of the storm, Old Rochester Regional schools were cancelled for Monday.
Snow totals for the South Coast are predicted to be between four to eight inches, with less accumulation along the coast.
That’s not much when compared to last week’s massive storm that dumped close to two feet of snow in some places. But low temperatures throughout the week did little to melt the mountains of snow piled up at intersections across the tri-town.
According to the National Weather Service, the South Coast will see snow, then rain, then more snow as temperatures drop in the evening. It’s likely to make an icy, slushy mix for driving later in the day.
