Snowy streets lead to multiple crashes in Rochester
Snowy roads caused a number of car crashes in Rochester on Monday. At 11:20 a.m., police responded to Rounseville Road (Route 105) by the Mattapoisett River for a single vehicle that had gone off the roadway. A tow truck removed the vehicle and the driver was cited for bald tires. No one was injured.
At 1:03 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of New Bedford Road for another single car crash in which a driver slid off the road and collided with several mailboxes. The crash did not result in any injuries.
Just over an hour later at 2:15 p.m. a third motor vehicle accident was reported on Braley Hill Road near Negus Way. Two vehicles collided, one of which was towing a trailer. The trailer and one automobile had to be towed from the scene. No one was injured in the crash.
An additional two accidents occurred around 2:46 p.m in the 200 block of Mary's Pond Road near the intersection of Clapp Road. The first vehicle slid off the road and crashed into a mailbox and left the scene. The second vehicle slid off the road and struck a tree. That driver left the scene as well.
Around 3:40 p.m. police received a call for yet another incident, this time a “car versus tree” accident near 525 Walnut Plain Road.
