Solar projects waiting on Eversource
May 27, 2015
A potential solar project at the town landfill is on hold until Eversource approves use of a nearby substation.
EMI Power has plans to lease space at the landfill, but to connect the power it produces to the grid means checking if the substation on Crystal Springs Road can handle the power.
EMI and Blue Wave Solar, which has a project near the landfill as well as several pending projects, are working together to pay for the $65,000 study of the substation.
The response from Eversource is expected by Aug. 15, Town Administrator Mike Gagne said at Tuesday’s Selectmen’s meeting. If approved, four solar arrays would filter power into the station.
Gagne was hopeful all would go well.
“Things are moving in a positive direction,” Gagne said.
