As early as 6:45 a.m. on Saturday morning, a team of ORR students was hard at work to make the holidays a little brighter for children eligible for the “Toys for Tots” program. Officer Matt McGraw of Marion the Marion Police Department and School Resource Officer, Sgt. Kevin Flynn of the Rochester Police Department joined them at the school until 10 a.m., loaning their cruisers to a “Stuff a Cruiser” drive for the charity.
Students made signs for the event in holiday colors, and McGraw surprised the student-volunteers with doughnuts and hot cocoa.
The drive was a success, and the the officers left with the backs of two cruisers full (and part of the backseat of one occupied by two giant teddy bears).
