Supper and raffle to raise money for boat race

ROCHESTER — The Memorial Day Boat Race will hold a ham and bean supper and a raffle on Saturday May 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rochester Senior Center. 

Tickets can be purchased at the door, and will be $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. 

The Culinary Arts Department at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical School and the Artisan Bake Shop will contribute food for the event. William Watling III, Cecelia Hall and Chris Tagney have also donated items for the raffle. Hall crocheted a blue afghan, Watling made two carbon-fiber paddles (auctioned separately), and Tagney is providing a boat that he raced only once paddle and life jacket.

Tickets for the raffle items are $5. The winners will be drawn and announced on Memorial Day. Funds from the event go to support the boat race, which is run without an entry fee.
