MARION — Captain Jay Amster of SEA Semester’s sail training vessel, SSV Robert C. Seamans, and geoscientist Kim Reed Nutt, SEA's Science Program Coordinator will host Tabor Academy’s first “Science@Work” lecture of the year on Sept. 23 on a newly developed volcanic island in the south Pacific, and what it may teach researchers about Mars.

Amster and  Nutt will share news of their recent collaborative research project with NASA where they provided access to a research site from their vessel, secured research permits, and trained student researchers.

Lecturers will discuss their findings as they searched for clues on the young island, Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai, about how water may have shaped Mars.

This event will mark the start of the fifth year of the Science@Work lecture series.
