Tabor JV baseball faces off against teammates

Apr 18, 2018

Members of the Tabor Academy junior varsity baseball team took on some familiar faces on Tuesday afternoon – their own teammates.

The team played the Old Rochester Regional Gateway team in a scrimmage, a team which five Tabor players also play on.

"The [Gateway] coach's son goes to Tabor," Tabor coach JJ Reydel said. "We're just getting some playing time. Just having fun."

The Gateway team is a recreational team made up of mainly tri-town players.

Old Rochester schools are currently on spring break, so Reydel said they thought it would be the perfect time to scrimmage.

"We wanted to play, they wanted to play," he said.

Ultimately, the game wasn't competitive. Reydel said the teams were solely just working to get some playing time in. One Tabor player even jumped over to play on the Gateway team.

"There was a trade before the game," Reydel laughed. Joking, "We're not even keeping score. Well maybe they are!"
