So you walk into a bar and…

It’s an experience we can all relate to says Tabor Academy English teacher and director for the winter drama “Six in the City,” which runs from March 1 through Saturday, March 3. The play features six, ten-minute plays that follow the first dates, girls’ night-outs and fist fights which we have all seen before Tyler said.

“The intent is to make you feel that you are in a place you have been in a hundred times before and eavesdropping on conversations,” Tyler said.

Tyler, who has been directing the winter drama for the past three years, says the winter drama differs from other Tabor productions in that there are no auditions.

The show is an activity for the students that they produce from start to finish he said. Any student interested in working on the show is cast. Then the cast and crew, with some help from the Tabor staff, build the sets, do the lighting, make the costumes and, of course, act.

The cast and crew has been rehearing since November. Tyler says he has been thrilled with the outcome and with the hard work of the cast and crew.

“It’s come together quite well,” Tyler said. “It’s very funny and the kids seemed to have really enjoyed working on the play.”

Though some members of the cast may not have any acting experience, Tyler says the winter production is meant to be a learning experience.

“It’s meant to be an instructional activity,” Tyler said. “They learn to put a play together that culminates in the end as a show they can put on for Tabor, their family and friends.”
