Tabor's sailing team sweeps Ridge White Classic tournament

Apr 7, 2013

Tabor Academy's sailing team bested the competition on Saturday at the annual Ridge White Classic tournament.

The Seawolves defeated Bishop Stang High School, Milton Academy, and Williams School. Tabor finished with 3-0 wins over the three schools.

Tabor's latest victory marks the team's second consecutive tournament sweep. Last weekend, the Seawolves emerged victorious in the annual April Fools Invite defeating North Kingstown High School, Falmouth High School, and Hingham High School.

The April Fools Invite was the first tournament of the spring season for Tabor. Before the competition, coach Robert Hurd said he was expecting great things of the team. He added that he hopes to see the young sailors continually improve.

“We’re focusing early on minimizing mistakes," Hurd said. "They don’t give trophies out at the beginning of the season. They give them out at the end."

The team will next compete against St. George's School on Wednesday, April 10, at Tabor.
