Take a walk on new Rochester trail Sept. 13
The town of Rochester, the Wildlands Trust of Southeastern Massachusetts and the Rochester Land Trust are inviting the public to the opening of Doggetts Brook Trail on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. starting at the Dexter Lane Ball Fields.
This is the newest public walking trail in town. The loop begins from a kiosk at the ball fields, winds thru property purchased by the town, joins the Wildlands Trust Lincoln P. Holmes Memorial Woods, returning back to the ball fields.
This connected greenway encompasses 41.1 acres of playing fields, 29.61 acres of town property and 29.6 acres of Wildlands property.
Bring bug spray, water bottles, hats and walking sticks, if needed.
Plan on 40 minutes to an hour to complete the walk, which will be led by residents who will point out such bio diverse areas as an abandoned cranberry bog and reservoir, a vernal pool, wetlands associated with Doggetts Brook and a variety of terrains.
