Tastes from 'The Coastal Table'

Jun 2, 2014

Recipes from Mattapoisett resident and author Karen Covey's cookbook "The Coastal Table" will be interpreted for a farm to table style four-course menu on Thursday, June 19 at 6 p.m. at How on Earth.

The cookbook focuses on the flavors and ingredients available on the South Coast and in Rhode Island, highlighting the agricultural community, which will be a big part of Chef Chris Chaput's menu.

Chaput is sourcing many ingredients from local farms, including Wyandotte Farm in Mattapoisett. Everything will start as a raw ingredient and the staff will make everything from nasturtium vinaigrette to coffee milk ice cream.

The dinner is $50 and will include suggested wine and beer pairings by representatives of Buzzards Bay Brewing and Westport River Vineyard who will be on hand to speak with guests. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.

Farmer and musician Jim Lough of the bluegrass band Riley Coyote will play acoustic music.
