Thanksgiving celebrations begin early

Nov 19, 2018

MATTAPOISETT — Ahead of a much anticipated holiday meal this week, tri-town seniors got their fill a bit early at the annual Thanksgiving Banquet hosted by Old Rochester Junior High School.

Chattering voices and, for the first time, the sounds of the school band filled the cafeteria during Sunday’s event. With promise of a warm meal, good company, and a festive environment, seniors enjoyed the hospitality of the school.

Students, with support from teachers and administrators, served up hot meals during the event and catered to all of their guests.

Volunteers from the ORR Food Service Staff prepared the meal this year, as they do every year, and served up the traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner with the trimmings.

Old Rochester Junior High School Principal Kevin Brogioli was on hand to greet seniors, as was Assistant Principal Silas Coellner. Superintendent of Schools, Douglas White, acted as an informal host, visiting each table, introducing himself and having cheerful conversation with guests.
