Friday, Dec. 6
Buy books and more.

The Elizabeth Taber Library will hold a winter mini book sale at the library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Librarians will gift wrap items for $2. The sale is also on Dec. 7.

The sale offers a chance to pick up one of the library’s custom glass ornaments. The sailboat ornaments are hand blown by craftsmen at McDemott Glass Studio in Sandwich. Each comes in a gift box. Go to the library during or outside of the book sale to buy one for $30.

Saturday, Dec. 7
See Santas run.

The Mattapoisett Santa Run will  start at the American Legion at 3 Depot Street. The holiday 5k was founded in 2011 by former Boston Marathon winner, and Olympian Geoffrey Smith. The race previously took place in New Bedford, with about 500 participants each year.

The event is family-focused, and participants may walk or run in Santa suits. The youth run will begin at 12:30 p.m and the Santa Run 5k will start at 1 p.m.

Parking will be available at the American Legion, Town Wharf, and Town Beach. Proceeds will go to the American Legion.

Sunday, Dec. 8
Stroll through Marion with Santa.

The annual Village Christmas Stroll will start at 3 p.m. and last until 5:30 p.m. Santa will arrive by boat, there will be children’s activities, wagon rides and treats from local merchants. The event will end with a tree lighting. 

Monday, Dec. 9
Hear a filmmaker.

Alizé Carrère will visit Tabor Academy at 6:30 p.m. to share her work on how people adapt to climate change. Carrère documents innovative adaptations like floating farms.She will speak at Tabor’s Stroud Academic Center, Lyndon South Auditorium (242 Front Street). Tuesday, Dec. 10
Learn about food.

Dietician and Wellness Coordinator Katlynn Ferreira will be at the Benjamin Cushing Community Center at 2 p.m. to give advice on healthy food choices for the holidays. She will also give a healthy cooking demonstration of a holiday dish. Registration is required. Call 508-748-3570 to register.

Wednesday, Dec. 11
Make some craft magic.

Harry Potter fans of all ages can create magical crafts and ornaments all day at the Elizabeth Taber Library. The library will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 pm on Wednesday.

The crafts will also be available 10 a.m. to  8 p.m. the next day.

Thursday, Dec. 12
Get a meal and a manicure.

The Marion Council on Aging will travel to Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School at 9:30 a.m. Participants will get a complimentary manicure at Techstyle Salon, while cosmetology students gain experience.

The culinary arts department will  serve a meal at the Canalside Restaurant.

Participants will have chicken cordon bleu, or scrod with dessert. Meals cost $11. Call 508-748-3570 to sign up.
