Thursday, Dec. 12

Eat spaghetti for a cause.

The Friends of the Rochester Senior Center will host a spaghetti and meatball fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Senior Center. The evening’s festivities include a holiday sing-a-long, 50/50 raffle, and Chinese auction. 

Tickets are $5 per person and available at the Senior Center.  There will be a limited number of tickets available on the night of the event.

Friday, Dec. 13

Dance, dance, dance.

The teen dance for December will be from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus hall. Knights’ dances are chaperoned by six adults and a policeman. They are for students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades and cost $8 to attend. 

 

Saturday, Dec. 14

Go shopping.

The First Congregational Church of Rochester, 11 Constitution Way in Rochester, will feed and entertain children for free from 5 to 8 p.m. so that adults can Christmas shop.

Shop for greens.

The Marion Garden Group will hold its Holiday Boutique from 9 a.m. to noon at the Marion Music Hall.

Popular items often sell out quickly, arrive early. Items start as low as $3 and the group now accepts credit cards. For more details see mariongardengroup.org. 

 

Tour houses.

The Sippican Woman’s Club will host its Holiday House Tour of houses decorated by professional florists starting at 10 a.m. and lasting until the tea at St. Gabriel’s ends at 4 p.m.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the tour. Visit www.sippicanwomansclub.org. to buy tickets in advance. Participants must visit Handy’s Tavern at the start of the tour to receive maps and wristbands.The Beverley Yacht club will also be open with refreshments. 

Participants should park at the Island Wharf and bandstand lot, not in the Marion General Store lot.

 

Sunday, Dec. 15

Swim in the cold.

The Tabor Academy Special Olympics club has held a fundraising campaign all fall to raise $12,000. The fundraiser will culminate in a Polar Plunge at Silvershell Beach at 11:15 a.m.

Community members may watch or join in for the Polar Plunge.

Hear holiday tunes. 

Tabor Academy will also host its Lessons and Carols service at 7:30 that evening. Head to Wickenden Chapel to hear music inspired by King’s College in Cambridge, and their annual holiday tradition.

Monday, Dec. 16

Hear about ginger drinks.

Dick Monroe from Cape Cod Ginger will visit the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center at 12:30 p.m. to talk about his experience starting a sparkling beverage business in Wareham.
