From the annual Marion Christmas Stroll to holiday concerts and caroling, there’s lots to do in the Tri-Town this week.

Thursday, December 9
SLT Holiday Open House
Come celebrate land conservation in Marion with the Sippican Lands Trust at the Holiday Open House from 6 to 8pm. More on Page 14.

Friday, December 10
Mattapoisett Museum New Sounds of Silents: Silent Film Night
Rescheduled from last week, join the Mattapoisett Museum from 6-8pm for some holiday- and winter-themed silent movies set to live music with new original soundtracks.

The event is free and open to all.

Sippican Choral Society Holiday Concert
The Sippican Choral Society will host two Tri-Town concerts over the weekend starting on Friday at 8pm at St. Gabriel’s in Marion and proceeding on Sunday at 4pm at St. Anthony’s Church in Mattapoisett.

Tickets are $15 general admission or $5 for students and free for children 6 and under. Tickets are available at Marion General Store, Isabelle’s in Mattapoisett, Euro in Fairhaven, or at the door.

Masks are required.

Saturday, December 11
Fire Station Open House
Get an up-close view of Mattapoisett’s new Fire Station at the open house at 10:30am.

Tours given following a ceremony. Light refreshment will be provided.

The department will be accepting donations of unwrapped toys during the event to be donated to local families this holiday season.

Mattapoisett tree lighting
The Town of Mattapoisett will get together to welcome the holiday season with a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Shipyard Park at 5pm on Saturday.

Light refreshments will be served and holiday songs sung.

Mattapoisett Museum Holiday Fair
If you’re still looking for gifts this holiday season, Mattapoisett Museum Craft Fair might have just what you’re looking for with a dozen local vendors setting up outside the museum from 11am-3pm.

Raffle tickets will be available to support the museum with prizes provided by the vendors.

Mattapoisett Museum caroling
The Mattapoisett Museum will be holding caroling nights every Saturday until Christmas except in case of inclement weather.

Carolers will meet at the museum at 6pm. All ages, abilities and instruments are welcome.

Refreshments will be served at the museum afterward.

Old Colony holiday cookie decorating class
Learn how to decorate your Christmas cookies like a pro at Old Colony with holiday cookie decorating classes on Dec. 11 and 18 with morning classes at 9am and afternoon classes at 12:30pm.

During this festive cookie decorating class, attendees will learn from Chef Clarke how to roll out sugar cookies and gingerbread dough, cut out and bake cookies. Then decorate the cookies with assorted candies and frosting while listening to holiday music and sipping hot chocolate.

Perfect for ages 8-13 years old.

The cost is $50 with no refunds for cancellations. Masks are required. Register on eventbrite.com. Classes will last about 2.5 hours.

Knights of Columbus pork loin dinner
The Mattapoisett Knights of Columbus will be offering grab and go pork loin dinners on Friday, served with mixed vegetables, dessert and a roll.

The cost is $15 and pickup is between 5-6 pm.

Sunday, December 12
Rochester Historical Society Holiday Concert
Join the Rochester Historical Society for a concert of holiday music played on its rare vocalion organ at 2 pm on Sunday.

Refreshments will be served after the concert.

In lieu of admission, please bring an unwrapped toy or item for a teen.

Marion Christmas Stroll
Welcome the holidays with the 27th Annual Marion Christmas Stroll from 3-5pm on Sunday.

There will be wagon rides, children’s activities, treats from local shops and Santa will arrive by boat, all along Marion’s main streets.

The Marion Art Center will be offering free hot chocolate and craft activities during the stroll.

At 5:30pm, the town will gather in Bicentennial Park for a Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
