Things to do: See ‘Jungle Book,’ eat your way around the world

Feb 25, 2019

There’s a lot happening in the tri-town on any given week. Visit SippicanWeekToday.com for your itinerary.

Thursday, February 28

Learn to bake.

The “Sweeten Up Your Life” baking class will begin on Thursday and run for four weeks. The course still has a few spots open for participants ages 14 years and up (or younger with parent/child registration). Bakers will learn how to make baked and unbaked pies, buttery shortbread cookies with fruit filling, sourdough bread, and decorative cupcakes with different types of frosting and pastry tips.

Eat your way around the world.

The Elizabeth Taber Library is holding an international culinary challenge with a twist: participants can make recipes from anywhere in the world, but the recipes must come from the Elizabeth Taber Library, or from the SAILS library network. The international potluck will begin at 6:30. Participants should email esherry@sailsinc.org to register.

Friday, March 1

See a Disney classic live.

Old Colony High School will present “The Jungle Book” at 7 p.m. at the school. Tickets for the student-production are only $5, and will be sold at the door. The play will also have a Saturday matinee performance at 2 p.m.

Saturday, March 2

See a Rochester songwriter for a good cause.

Rebecca Correia has been singing since the age of nine, and now splits her time between her hometown of Rochester and Leipers Fork, TN, just outside of Nashville. She will give a concert at 7 p.m. at the Mattapoisett Museum. Tickets are available through Eventbrite:  https://rebeccacorreiamattapoisett.eventbrite.com, or will be sold for $40 at the door. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the museum.
