Thursday, July 15

Tails and tales with the Rochester Girl Scouts
At 1:30 p.m. at Plumb Library, Rochester Girl Scout Troop 62150 will host their first show of two weeks of animal programming, geared to children from pre-kindergarten to second grade.

The same class will be held July 21 at 10:30 a.m. and July 22 at 1:30 p.m. Registration is required and is limited to 12 children.

The Girl Scouts will read an animal themed story and help children create a related craft. There will be animal dance and movement activities. There also may be surprise live animal guests. Children are encouraged to wear their favorite animal gear: Hats, t-shirts, costumes, outfits, etc.

Friday, July 16

Medical questions with Dr. Ed Hoffer
At 10:15 a.m., Dr. Edward Hoffer will visit the Marion Council on Aging to answer medical questions that attendees may have forgotten or decided not to ask their doctors. Questions can be left anonymously in the box at the entrance and the doctor will attempt to answer as many as possible.

Saturday, July 17

Upcycle t-shirts
At 10:30 a.m., the Mattapoisett Free Public Library will host “Upcycle T-Shirt Bags” on the library lawn (weather permitting). The event is recommended for ages 10 and up, and no registration required.

See the artMobile
The New Bedford Art Museum’s artMobile will visit the Elizabeth Taber Library from noon to 2 p.m., once again featuring art projects inspired by the Ruth E. Carter exhibit, “Uncommon Threads.” Explore fashion and costume design with the artMobile crew. This is a drop in event at the library for all ages.

Find Hodge Podge
Hodge Podge will be hiding somewhere near Plumb Library from 1 to 2 p.m. Find the clue about his location under July 17 on the library’s event calendar. Once you find Hodge Podge, take a picture with him. Email your photo to Ms. Lisa at info@plumblibrary.com or go into the library to show a librarian.

Witness history
The Mattapoisett Lions Club will open its 50-year time capsule at the gazebo in Shipyard Park at 7:30 as part of the Harbor Days festival. For a full list of Harbor Days events, click here.

Monday, July 19

Try out new jar openers
On Monday, July 19 at 1 p.m., the council on aging will hold a “jar opener demonstration” during which attendees will be able to test various jar openers and get information about how to purchase one if they find one they like.

Tuesday, July 20

See high-flying pups
Mike Piazza and his performing border collies will visit the Elizabeth Taber Library for a high-flying Frisbee spectacular. At 1 p.m., Piazza and his pups will put on a show for all ages. The event will be held outside at the library.

Talk veggies with the cookbook club
At 6:30 p.m., the Mattapoisett Library Cookbook Club will meet in person to discuss “Six Seasons: A New Way with Vegetables,” by Joshua McFadden.
