Tour de Créme

For the seventh year the Tour de Créme bike ride will roll through Mattapoisett and surrounding towns Sunday, June 1.

Cyclists of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join, stopping at multiple creameries along the routes. Those participating will have the option to choose between 9-, 25-, and 45-mile rides, and can attend a post-ride celebration at Munro Park in Mattapoisett for more ice cream, food, live music and cold beverages.

Not interested in riding? Have a “wheelie-good” time as a volunteer instead.

Registration for the event will open Tuesday, April 1 for both riders and volunteers. For updated times, routes, and creameries featured in the event visit the Tour de Créme Facebook page, or Tourdecreme.org.

A wedding of the century

Join the Mattapoisett Friends Meeting to celebrate the wedding of Joseph Liburne Hiller and Florence Louise Crowell, which took place on May 28, 117 years ago.

There will be a silent, unprogrammed meeting for worship from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by an explanation of Quaker weddings, the tradition of Friends’ wedding certificates and the Hiller family.

Florence Martoccie of Mattapoisett donated her grandparents’ Quaker wedding certificate, which will be mounted on a wall in the meeting house, and light refreshments will be served.

The celebration will take place on Sunday, June 1 at the Mattapoisett Friends Meeting house at 103 Marion Road.
