Tiki time at Mattapoisett Beach
Jun 22, 2013
Hundreds of residents flocked to Town Beach on Saturday for the first annual Tiki Beach Party.
The event was a community effort organized by Mattapoisett Recreation, the Mattapoisett Library and the Lions Club with Mattapoisett Sailing.
The afternoon featured a sand castle contest, hot dogs, and exotic drinks.
"It went very, very well," said Mattapoisett Recreation Chair Jeremy Collier. "We look forward to building on it next year."
Collier said he was thankful for all the participation, including an obstacle course by Beth Smith and DJ Desmond Bourne.
Boy Scout Troop 53, under the direction of Owen Lee, also built two lifeguard stands for the beach, said Collier.
