Toys, trinkets galore at Rochester Historical Society yard sale

ROCHESTER — Ninja Turtles, nutcrackers and an old wooden box.

Those were three of the most interesting items at the Rochester Historical Society’s yard sale on Aug. 7.

The old box, which was adorned with rope handles, even sold before the yard sale began at 9 a.m. The tub of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle merchandise was also popular early in the sale.

“They went fast,” Vice President Connie Eschbach said.

And there was so much more for sale, that the sale was extended through Aug. 8.

“We still have enough left to run it tomorrow,” Eschbach said.

She said the yard sale at the Rochester Historical Society Museum was well attended, and likely led some browsers into the museum who may not have seen it otherwise.

The museum, located inside East Rochester Church, is owned by the historical society.

“Which always sounds like ‘oh, so nice,’” Eschbach said. “But it’s a church that was built in 1857.

So, Eschbach said, all proceeds from the yard sale will go to the upkeep of the museum.

She said the sale is a good way “to make money without spending money,” as the items sold were donated to the historical society.

“Every penny will go to the upkeep of the museum,” Eschbach said.
