The Mattapoisett Land Trust and the Friends of the Mattapoisett Bike Path are teaming up to offer the Tour de Creme bike ride this spring.

The event, scheduled for May 22, will give cyclists the option of riding 12 miles, 25 miles or 48 miles, with local creameries as pit stops along the route. The rides will begin and end in Mattapoisett.

Proceeds from the day will go towards bike and walking trails in Mattapoisett.

Land Trust board member Mark Anderson and Friends of the Bike Path Bonne DeSousa cleared the event with Selectmen on Tuesday.

Anderson said the longest ride will pass five ice cream shops and go through a number of towns, including Rochester, Freetown and Acushnet.

The new event is family friendly, said DeSousa.

“We’re expecting it’s going to be a lot of fun,” DeSousa said.
